  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme

  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup water
  • Oil in a spray bottle

Instructions

  1. Prepare the onion by cutting off the top and peeling the skin.
  2. Make downward cuts around the onion to create petals.
  3. Let the onion sit cut-side up for 5 minutes to relax.
  4. Separate the outer pieces of each petal gently.
  5. In one bowl, mix flour, paprika, cayenne pepper, cumin, thyme, oregano, salt, and pepper; in another, whisk eggs, milk, and water.
  6. Coat the onion first with flour mixture, then dip into the egg mixture, followed by another coating of flour.
  7. Chill the coated onion in the fridge while preheating the air fryer to 350°F.
  8. Spray with oil and cook for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
