Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pepper (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)
  • 1/4 cup butter (1/2 stick)
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup full-fat sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, egg, panko breadcrumbs, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, allspice, nutmeg, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined and form into small balls (about 25–30).
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Brown meatballs in batches for about 5–7 minutes each until golden on all sides; transfer to a plate.
  3. For the gravy, pour off excess fat from the skillet and melt butter. Stir in flour to create a roux until golden brown.
  4. Gradually whisk in beef broth and add Dijon mustard and Worcestershire sauce; cook until thickened.
  5. Return meatballs to the skillet and simmer for 10 minutes until cooked through.
  6. Stir in sour cream, season to taste with salt and pepper, and serve over mashed potatoes or noodles.
