  • 1 cup Whole milk (warmed, 105°-110°)
  • 2 1/4 tsp Active dry yeast
  • 1/4 tsp Sugar (to activate the yeast)
  • 6 tbsp Unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large Eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup White granulated sugar
  • 4 cups All purpose flour (spooned and leveled; if too sticky add extra tablespoons)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 cups Fresh strawberries (washed, hulled and sliced)
  • 1 tsp Fresh lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup White granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp Water
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 4 oz Cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 tbsp Butter (softened)
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tbsp Whole milk

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk and activate the yeast with sugar for 5-10 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, mix melted butter, eggs, sugar, salt, and the activated yeast mixture. Gradually add flour to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Prepare the strawberry filling by cooking sliced strawberries with lemon juice, sugar, water, and cornstarch until thickened.
  6. Roll out the dough, spread the filling evenly, then roll it tightly and slice into pieces.
  7. Arrange rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rest while preheating the oven.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Mix icing ingredients and drizzle over warm rolls.
