  • 3 ½ cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • ¼ cup Salted Butter (cold)
  • 1 cup Raisins (seedless)
  • 1 ¼ cups Buttermilk
  • ½ cup Sourdough Discard
  • 1 large Egg (lightly beaten)
  • 1 tbsp Honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking soda until combined.
  3. Cut cold butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in raisins, coating them lightly in flour.
  5. Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk, sourdough discard, egg, and honey until smooth.
  7. Pour the wet mixture into the well and combine gently with a wooden spoon.
  8. Knead the dough lightly on a floured surface until it comes together; shape into an 8” round mound.
  9. Score a deep cross on top with a knife.
  10. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and hollow when tapped.
  11. Cool on wire rack before slicing.
