  • 1 large egg
  • 2 and 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup shredded parmesan, mozzarella, or white cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • Coarse or flaky sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining it with sugar and warm milk in a large bowl. Let it sit until frothy (5-10 minutes).
  2. Mix in softened butter, egg, flour, salt, garlic powder, and rosemary until combined.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth (about 5 minutes) and let it rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size (about 60-90 minutes).
  4. Prepare the filling by mixing soft butter with herbs and minced garlic.
  5. Divide risen dough into pieces, flatten them, spread filling, add cheese, fold them up and place them in a greased loaf pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) until golden brown (25-30 minutes).
