  • 2 beef tenderloins
  • 2 tsp kosher salt (divided)
  • ½ tsp pepper (divided)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1 ½ tbsp grainy mustard
  • 2 sweet onions (thinly sliced)
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (divided)
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Trim silver skin from the beef tenderloin and let sit at room temperature.
  2. Season tenderloins with a mix of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, paprika, and poultry seasoning.
  3. In a skillet, melt butter with olive oil and caramelize sliced onions over medium heat for about 45 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Combine maple syrup, mustard, minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce in a bowl for the glaze.
  6. Sear seasoned tenderloins in a hot skillet until browned on all sides.
  7. Place tenderloins on top of caramelized onions in a baking dish.
  8. Deglaze skillet with beef broth and stir in the glaze mixture; simmer until reduced.
  9. Pour sauce over the tenderloins and roast in the oven for about 15-20 minutes until internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
  10. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
