  • 2 Tbsp fresh lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

  1. Combine warm buttermilk and yeast in a stand mixer; let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. Add sugar, butter, eggs, salt, and flour; mix until a dough forms. Knead until smooth (8-10 minutes).
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (30 minutes).
  4. Prepare filling by mixing brown sugar, granulated sugar, softened butter, and lemon zest.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle; spread filling evenly and roll tightly.
  6. Cut into equal pieces and place in a parchment-lined pan; let rise again (30 minutes).
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C); bake for about 28 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Mix icing ingredients; drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
