  • 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 large Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes (about 2 ½ pounds)
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Freshly chopped parsley or chives (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, milk, flour, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  3. Peel and rinse the potatoes, then slice them into thin rounds (about 1/8 inch thick).
  4. Layer one-third of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish, pour one-third of the cream mixture over them. Repeat this process twice more until all ingredients are layered.
  5. Top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and cover with foil. Bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove the foil and bake for another 20 minutes until golden brown and tender. Let stand for about five minutes before serving.
