  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 medium yellow onion (finely diced)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 can (15 oz) pinto beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 cup beef broth

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large stockpot over medium-high heat along with the diced onion and minced garlic for about 7–10 minutes.
  2. Add drained pinto and kidney beans, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and maple syrup to the pot. Stir well.
  3. Sprinkle in the chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Pour in the beef broth and stir again.
  4. Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for about 10–15 minutes until thickened.
